How we build
At Urban Escapes, through careful, clever and conscientious product design and engineering we have created a range of garden rooms to be just as comfortable as a room inside your home. The highly energy efficient building materials we use create a warm, dry and comfortable space for you to enjoy all year round.
Foundations
Our garden rooms sit on a reinforced stainless steel foundation not only providing a solid durable base but it’s low profile means you get maximum height space inside your garden room, whilst staying within permitted development.
Walls
The floor, walls and roof are constructed using structurally insulated panels (SIPs) which offer highly efficient thermal values and exceptional strength. This sealed envelope makes our studios warm in the winter and cool in the summer, with good sound-proofing.
Roof
The roof is a unique standing seam system with highly insulated panels designed for ‘industrial grade’ durability, it has hidden fixings and is anthracite grey in colour, finished with anthracite edging and guttering to the rear. Studios up to 3.8m deep can have a planted sedum roof, which not only looks spectacular when flowering, but also offers a sanctuary to insects, bees and birds and helps insulate your garden room.
Cladding
All of our studio ranges are available in 3 different cladding options; ToughWood, Western Red Cedar or Shou Sugi Ban. As standard, our garden rooms come with a high density ToughWood cladding, which has a durable woodgrain texture. It’s unique structural composition means that it is inherently sturdy. Doors & Windows
Featuring premium UPVC double glazed doors with a sculpted ergonomic lever handle which is easy to grip and has a sturdy feel. Ensuring the highest level of security each door is fitted with a Lockmaster multi-point door lock designed, developed and tested to deliver the very highest level of performance for security, ease of use and service life. You can also upgrade to bifolding or sliding doors.
Our windows feature premium uPVC double glazed windows in contemporary anthracite. You can also upgrade to aluminium windows frames.
Floor
We offer a durable wood effect laminate flooring in 3 different colour options.
Sockets
Each Pent Haus includes a single socket in each corner as standard. Wires are placed vertically and we have structural OSB on all sides which means you can hang whatever you want wherever you want. However we understand that your needs might differ especially as there are so many different ways to use our garden rooms. If you have any specific ideas please do let us know and we will try to incorporate it during the building process.
Heating
Although our garden rooms are built from top to bottom with high grade insulation, if you are planning on using your new room all year around, you may want to think about including a heating system. From wall mounted electric heaters, to underfloor heating we can cover it. Just let us know your preference.
Lights
We include environmentally friendly LED spotlights. The number of these depends on the size of your studio
