Free underfloor heating upgrade on garden studios this Black Friday
At Urban Escape Studios, through careful, clever and conscientious product design and engineering we have created a range of garden rooms to be just as comfortable as a room inside your home. The highly energy efficient building materials we use create a warm, dry and comfortable space for you to enjoy all year round.
With winter creeping in and the cost of living soaring, energy usage & efficiency are becoming understandably more paramount. So this Black Friday we are offering a special free upgrade to underfloor heating on all garden room enquiries before the end of November 2022.
Underfloor heating is extremely efficient heating method, especially in a small area that is already well insulated like our garden rooms.
Why our insulated garden rooms are perfect for underfloor heating
To ensure your underfloor heating system runs efficiently, insulation is a key factor. Without an airtight thermal fabric, precious heat generated by your underfloor heating will be lost via the walls, floors and roof. Therefore having a well-insulated garden room will enable underfloor heating to be able to run optimally.
Our range of garden studios has been uniquely constructed to ensure the highest levels of thermal efficiency and performance.
Each studio is built with:
Foundations – We use heavy duty composite pile foundations with a stainless steel frame which lifts the studio off the ground, leaving a breathable space, removing the risk of rising damp and condensation.
Insulation – The floor, walls and roof are constructed using structurally insulated panels (SIPs) which offer highly efficient thermal values and exceptional strength. The wall thickness is 140mm (subject to cladding type), making our studios warm in the winter and cool in the summer, with good sound-proofing. The U value of the insulation for our walls is 0.29 and our floor is 0.22. To put this into perspective please see the new home building regulation requirements below. You can see from the numbers , our build specification provides U values lower than the recommended levels, giving you confidence that your garden studio will be usable 365 days a year. The lower the U value, the better the insulating performance.
Part L Build regulation Requirements
Floor: 0.25 W/m^2K
Walls: 0.30 W/m^2K

Windows & Door – We use 1.8m wide uPVC French doors and a 1.2m x 600mm top or side-hung uPVC picture window, as standard on all our studios. Doors and windows have argon gas-filled double glazing toughened glass. Upgrades include sliding or bi-fold doors, aluminium frames, additional windows, and roof tunnels. High security locks are fitted to doors and windows, and we can also fit integral blinds.

External Cladding – We clad the exterior of our studios with ToughWood™ cladding, an engineered wood, manufactured from wood strands compressed under extremely high pressure and bonded together to create an ultra-tough dense and stable cladding, providing another valuable layer of insulation.
Why choose underfloor heating?
If you are interested in a garden room that you can use all year around then our underfloor heating option is ideal for making the space extra ambient and comfortable during winter.
Not only is it said to be at least 25% more energy efficient than radiators but …
Advantages of underfloor heating systems
Underfloor heating is a high-spec feature that allows you to enjoy the luxury of warm floors during cold weather.
The running costs of electric under floor heating depend on the size of space and its energy efficiency. That’s why it works so well with our self-contained & highly insulated garden rooms.
Also as with central heating systems, you will receive a digital programmable thermostat for your underfloor heating. This will enable you to turn it on and off exactly when you need it, as well as changing the temperature, so you can maximise the efficiency and keep running costs down.
1) Low maintenance costs
The system is only 2mm in thickness too making the cables one of the thinnest available. They are constructed using multi strand wires making them extremely tough, so much so we provide a lifetime guarantee on it.
2) Energy efficiency
It has been shown that underfloor heating is far more efficient than conventional radiators. Due to their high efficiency, the energy bills are vastly reduced. Not only are underfloor heating systems quick to start up and provide heat, but they can also retain heat for longer periods.
3) Low running costs
Due to the rising costs of gas, oil and wood, electric underfloor heating also provides a more cost-effective heating source. The running costs can depend on a range of factors including the effectiveness of room insulation. As we have highlighted though our garden studios are built with highly insulated SIP panels with minimal thermal bridges and therefore will yield much better energy savings.
4) More comfortable
Rooms with underfloor heating systems are noticeably more comfortable. This is due to the warm feeling one gets when their bare feet are in direct contact with the floor. Another reason is attributed to a consistent temperature profile around the room.
All parts of the room, so long as they share the same heating system, will maintain a balanced climate. One corner of the room won’t feel cooler than the other, which seems to be the case with radiator systems since they rely more on convection.
5) Better Hygiene & environment
Underfloor heating systems are much safer and more hygienic than radiators. This is due to the high levels of moisture and humidity at floor level, creating the ideal breeding ground for creepy crawlies and dust mites. Switching to an underfloor heating system drastically improves hygiene all around, almost completely eliminating dust mites.
Also, since you’ve removed the radiator from your room, this usually means one less surface that attracts grease and gathers dust. This also results in less air movement, which means less dust is transported around, making underfloor the perfect solution for people with allergies.
6) Controllable temperatures
With our digital thermostat you will be able to control the temperature easily and efficiently unlike the valves you get on radiators which are inefficient. It is also WIFI enabled so you can turn the heating on inside while eating your brekkie so it’s nice and warm for your arrival.
7) Compatible with most floor surfaces
Underfloor heating systems are compatible with the majority of floor systems. You don’t need solid surface flooring such as stone or tile for best results.
8) Creates additional space
Underfloor heating is also hidden away and no space is taken up by radiators in your garden room, you have more wall space to play with. There are no restrictions on where you can place furniture. No big white radiators to spoil décor either!
9) Safer
Radiators can pose a serious health and safety risk, especially to small children and vulnerable adults due to their jaggy corners and the potential of fire hazards. These are the ideal conditions for accidents to happen without any warning.
The disadvantages of underfloor heating
As with everything there are disadvantages to consider with underfloor heating:
1)Cost
The initial outlay of underfloor heating can be quite expensive compared to radiators. Take advantage of our Black Friday deal to claim your free upgrade to underfloor heating.
2) Time
It can take longer to heat up the space than radiators do so ensure you use our WIFI enabled thermostat to turn the heating on roughly 30 minutes before you intend to use your garden studio.
