5 Real-Life Garden Offices: Garden Room Inspiration

One question we get asked most often is “Should I build a Garden Office?”.

In short, yes!

Garden Offices can be a fantastic way to upgrade your home and lifestyle, by transforming the spare space in your garden into a functional space – whether that is a garden gym, garden office, or garden guest room! They also add value to the property, often don’t need planning permission, and you can even use them all year round with low running costs thanks to fully insulated interiors.

Urban Escapes offers bespoke Garden Rooms that are tailored to your needs and style. So, we wanted to give you some inspiration for your own Garden Room designs. Here are five real-life garden room examples that showcase creativity, and functionality of Garden Rooms to give you some ideas. (Check out more information on when you need planning permission here >>)

1. The Multi-Functional Space and Garden Room Gym

This is the ultimate Home Office and Home Gym Garden Room! The studio was split into 3 sections, a home office for Rupert to be able to work from home in peace, a home fitness and gym area for Rupert, and a bathroom to give this space options.

The family can use this space all year round with wall heater panels in all rooms, as well as ToughWood™exterior panels meaning low running costs.

Jamie and Rupert love their new garden room, it has given them space back in their home, a better work-life balance, as well as more time to spend with their children. Check out what they had to say here

Light and bright; We designed and built her a 2 x 3m Astana with clean lines, featuring French doors with side windows to flood the compact space with lots of natural light.

Modern and practical; The studio was clad in ToughWood ‘Cedar’ giving it a natural look but providing durability, long life and ensuring virtually no maintenance is required. So Gemma could use the office all year around the study features electric underfloor heating with a digital thermostat.

High-Tech features; We installed 4 double plug sockets to enable office equipment as well as a cat 5 internet cable and socket, running from the studio to the router in the house. We also installed a stylish exterior up/down lighter on the outside of the garden room for evening and night-time use.

5. The Family-Friendly Office and Guest Room

Luke & Zoe have 2 young children and wanted to create extra space, make more of their garden, as well as create a tranquil space for freelancer Luke to work from. They wanted a multifunctional space that would work hard to provide several solutions for their family. The large studio provides a peaceful and quiet workspace for Luke to concentrate in, and also provides enough space for gym equipment for working out after work. Outdoors and closeby it has an area for the children to play, so Luke can still keep an eye on them.

This space can also double as a guest area*; We installed a kitchenette area with a Belfast sink unit with shaker-style door, as well as a separate bathroom with an electric shower, bi-fold shower door and electric towel rail.
