How Long Does it Take to Build a Garden Room?

Once, you have created your final design with our team, it is time for us to make your garden room a reality which, of course, is an exciting time, and we’re sure your first question will be how long you will have to wait for your garden room to be installed.

With our skilful and dedicated build and installation teams, we aim to deliver a high-quality, durable, yet beautiful garden room that meets all your needs and expectations. We deliver this through streamlined build processes and a highly engineered patent pending construction which ensures the build and installation process is as stress-free and as simple as possible for you.

A typical garden studio installation timeline

Depending on your garden studio’s size and requirement, our build time is typically 1 to 2 weeks. Here’s what happens in that time:

Day 1 – 2: The foundations

Our unique garden room foundations can be laid on uneven sites, so no flattening is required. Instead, we use heavy-duty composite posts, which are concreted into the ground, with a stainless steel frame bolted on, which lifts the studio off the ground, leaving a breathable space, and removing the risk of rising dampness and condensation. Posts are positioned every 1.5 – 1.2m in a grid formation.

Days 3 – 4: The construction

The floor, walls and roof are constructed using structurally insulated panels (SIPs), and we will manufacture them to match your final design in our manufacturing facilities. This means our helpful and friendly installation team just have to assemble the pieces together onsite, making the process quicker and producing no mess!

During this process the team will then connect the electricity and plumbing if you are having a bathroom or sink area, and install the windows and doors.

Day 5 – 8: Plastering & exterior works

The plastering process will take 4 days to dry and can also depend on the time of year.  Whilst this is drying, the team carry out electrical and exterior works.

Day 9-10: The finishes

We finish the project by decorating, and then fitting your flooring, skirting and lighting so that you can move in as soon as we move out!

What can Influence the Installation Time?

The time it takes to construct a garden room on site can vary significantly depending on a number of factors, including the size and complexity of the garden room, the materials used, the location, accessibility of the site and any upgrades that have been selected.

Whilst a small, compact garden studio may take as little as 3 – 6 days, larger custom-built garden rooms could take a couple of weeks. On average our garden room build time is 5-7 working days, however this will depend on any additional services you require.

For larger, more intricate garden room projects that may involve plumbing in bathrooms or kitchens as well as electrics and media equipment, a bespoke timeline would be required.

Of course, the Great British weather can play a part in the installation timeframe as well.
