Grant and Nick wanted us to create an artist’s studio in an unused corner of their beautiful garden. We designed the garden room with them to ensure that they now have a space that suits their requirements, their tastes and their outside space. The black ash composite cladding and planted sedum roof allow the studio to blend in with the mature planting, and the two sets of bi-fold doors offer a huge amount of natural light and bring the garden space into the studio. We painted the room in Farrow and Ball’s ‘green calke’, used imported Spanish tiles for the flooring, and installed these gorgeous vintage wall lights which create a wonderful ambience. The wrap-around Balau hardwood deck offers a lovely area for entertaining, including festive festoon lighting and a large storage unit for a barbecue and chairs.
