Marisa wanted to create a space for her teenager, to give them a space of their own which they could use as a gym and for socialising with friends and to enable her to regain some peace and quiet and space in the main house.
We designed & built a 7.7m x 4.4m Abri studio with a 60cm roof overhang for her and her son, complete with bathroom and kitchen area.
The studio was clad in our new brick slip system, whilst the sides and back were clad in our exclusive ToughWood cladding™ in our Cedar colour, ensuring the studio was low maintenance but ultra durable.
To flood the space with light and to ensure Marisa can keep a discrete, watchful eye still, the front of the studio boasts 3.9m aluminium bi-fold doors and the side with a uPVC full length picture window.
Doors and windows are argon gas filled, double glazed units with toughened glass, trickle vents, and are fitted with high security key locking systems.
For easy winter access and also for those delightful summer evenings when the Bi-fold doors are open the roof overhang has 6 LED downlights creating a contemporary feel.
Internally we installed power and lighting with recessed spotlights in the ceiling, followed by 4 double sockets in each corner as well as connecting internet from the house to the studio.
The compact but useful kitchen includes an electric water heater tap, built in fridge, white ceramic sink along with a 1.5m worktop and plenty of cupboard space.
We also built a separate 1.1m x 2.3m cloakroom featuring a 600mm by 600mm frosted window to allow light and features a vanity unit comprising of a waterless toilet and electric heated tap with sink and splashback, the cloakroom also features a shower unit.
